Photographer Alexander Palacios was born in 1982 in a rather conservative provincial village
in proximity of buzzing Frankfurt am Main. Born to a German mother and Peruvian father
however raised by his German grandparents, Palacios reworked his cultural mix and heritage,
and shaped his creativity from kindergarten to the end of his school education. Along his
journey he became the inspiring self-taught photographer he is today and eventually found
his way to Basel, where he established his studio in 2010. Palacios’ clients include Cimier
Watches, Wunderkind, ESCADA SPORT, Clariden Leu and Actelion as well as publishing
houses such as, Ringier, Burdaverlag and Condé Nast.
One of his major strengths lies in portraiture, reportage and production of the human figure
that can be seen in the artistic style and settings of his commercial and editorial photography.
Palacios names Peter Lindbergh & Richard Avedon as some of his greatest role models.
It was them who brought to light the natural aspect of the human being that Palacios is
deeply drawn to as a photographer and which he tries to express in his work.

In 2010 Palacios’ won the 2010 Hasselblad Junior Contest with a portrait of supermodel Ajak Deng.
