Ricardo Barcellos (Porto Alegre, 1969) has been passionate about photography since his youth, and his professional career has been characterized by versatility. Without any style, his work encompasses several visual languages: lifestyle, portraits, still lifes, beauty, and video. It is precisely at the intersection of these diverse languages that he proposes solutions to his clients. He carries out projects in the field of fine art, using techniques from video art, installations, and expanded photography.
After graduating with a degree in Social Communication, he took a course at the International Center of Photography (1997), New York, USA, and a film directing course at the Met Film School (2014), London, England. He has been awarded a Grand Prix at Cannes (2023), a Golden Lion (2016), two Silvers (2014, 2005), and a Bronze (2004). Nominated for the PIPA Prize (2022), he has received, among other awards, the Conrado Wessel Prize for Photography (2009) and the Hasselblad Masters Latin America (2011).
He has had major exhibitions at institutions such as the Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo (SP), the MASP (SP), the Usina do Gasômetro (RS), and the Paço das Artes (SP). He has participated twice in Photoespanha (2011 and 2015). His work has been exhibited in various countries, including Italy, Germany, Colombia, Spain, the Czech Republic, and the Dominican Republic. It is part of important collections such as the Pirelli-MASP, the Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo, and the MAC-RS.
