The internationally successful fashion company, Marc Cain, was founded in 1973 by Helmut Schlotterer, the Chairman of the Board. Today, Marc Cain is a globally active premium brand for women's fashion. The world wide operating business is managed from its headquarters in Bodelshausen, Germany. 2008 - 2012, the company invested €60 million, for instance in a new production and administration building with ultra-modern equipment and machinery. These forward-looking investments can be seen as an explicit commitment to the German location.
The company currently has a staff over 800 employees in Germany alone and a sales volume of 253 Million Euros in 2013. The selective distribution strategy is characterized by 177 Marc Cain stores, 287 shop-in-stores, 472 account clients and another 1001 upmarket
specialist retail stores in 59 countries characterise the selective distribution strategy.
