Peter Burgstaller was born in 1970, in Austria.

After graduating from art school, he worked for severeal years as a graphic designer and art director for Austria´s leading agencies. Overseeing and art directing photo shootings moved his interests more and more towards photography, but he knew that it´s not enought to have a good eye. So in 1999 he decided to start all over again and began to work as an assistant in New York. He assisted several top photographers like Alexi Hay, Mathias Vrins, Elfie Semotan, Horst Stasny, Peter Schreiber and more...

During this period in New York he met Mario Testino. Though he never worked for Mario, but it was this photographers influence that gave Peter the final push to start his career as a photographer.
