This is a story of how I became a Copywriter. When I was in high school, I traded my running shoes for cosy corners in libraries where I delved into the fascinating worlds of Ginsberg, Kafka, Sartre, Orwell, Dostoevsky, and many more! You could say the only running I did was running my fingers through pages. After a decade of working in finance, I sprinted away from the world of spreadsheets and stock charts to study English Literature with a dream of becoming a novelist.
As a competitive, pop culture-obsessed Indian millennial, the cliche idea of being an unpaid novelist made me cringe harder than Kanye attempting to run for President. So, I ditched the whole idea and considered forming a cult of powerful witches who could read Tarot cards. Nah, I’m kidding! Or am I? I spent last two years in Miami Ad School, Berlin writing endless copies, creating campaigns, and interning at some of the world’s largest agencies including • Wunderman Thompson (Tokyo), • Mccann (Paris), and • Serviceplan Innovation (Munich).
During this time, I had the opportunity to meet many talented and innovative individuals from diverse cultures, this ultimately led me to discover my true passion for advertising.
And that, dear reader, is how I became a copywriter.
