Benjamin was born in Mexico City and grew up in the former Yugoslavia, Peru, Bolivia and Germany. After studying philosophy at the University of Cologne, he studied screenwriting and directing at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne. As part of his studies, he attended the New York Film Academy on a scholarship for a semester abroad. His diploma film “Gabriel” has made it into the line-up of numerous international festivals, including the Festival des Films du Monde in Montreal. Gabriel was broadcast on the WDR short film night. In 2017 he completed a master’s degree in film directing at the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf. There he took part in the “Serial Writing and Producing” study program at the Erich Pommer Institute in winter 2015/2016. His short film BILAL was co-financed by the RBB, celebrated its premiere at the internationale Hof Film Festival and was broadcast on RBB in 2019. In 2018 Benjamin won a scholarship from the Wim Wenders Foundation. As part of this scholarship, he developed the VR series ROSEMARIE in the Writers´ Room Lagerfeuer. His latest short film KALA was financed by the social organization „Aktion Mensch“. He produced and directed the film for the inclusive dance company Szene2wei.
In recent years, Ben transitioned from traditional filmmaking to AI-powered production, seeking creative freedom and new storytelling possibilities. His work now focuses on blending narrative depth with AI technology, crafting impactful visuals that push the boundaries of modern filmmaking.
