She began her career in fashion as a model for Dolce & Gabbana. After working closely with the designers for several years, she endeavored to become a stylist, starting as a fashion editor at L’Uomo Vogue under then Editor-in-Chief, Anna Dello Russo. She then began contributing to other Condé Nast publications, including Vogue China, German Vogue, Vogue Paris, and, later, newer publications such as Garage Magazine and Exit.
In 2009, Battaglia was named Fashion Director of Vogue Gioiello and Vogue Pelle under Editor-in-Chief Franca Sozzani. In 2011, Battaglia moved from Milan to Manhattan for her role at W Magazine and began her monthly column Gio’s Journal.
