Giovanna Battaglia is an Italian-born fashion editor, stylist and creative director living in New York City. Deemed a “cyber icon” and “fashion heroine” by the New York Times, Giovanna is currently Contributing Fashion Editor at W Magazine, Senior Fashion Editor at Vogue Japan and the Creative Director of the Queen of the Night, the lavish cabaret located in the newly revamped Diamond Horseshoe nightclub at the Paramount Hotel near Times Square. Gio is known to put together sophisticated, polished looks infusing them with a fun, playful edge, whether in her work or in her own personal style, which is often photographed by the likes of Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist, Tommy Ton of Jak + Jil and Style.com and Garance Doré.

She began her career in fashion as a model for Dolce & Gabbana. After working closely with the designers for several years, she endeavored to become a stylist, starting as a fashion editor at L’Uomo Vogue under then Editor-in-Chief, Anna Dello Russo. She then began contributing to other Condé Nast publications, including Vogue China, German Vogue, Vogue Paris, and, later, newer publications such as Garage Magazine and Exit.

In 2009, Battaglia was named Fashion Director of Vogue Gioiello and Vogue Pelle under Editor-in-Chief Franca Sozzani. In 2011, Battaglia moved from Milan to Manhattan for her role at W Magazine and began her monthly column Gio’s Journal.
