Born in Moscow to an American correspondent father and a New Zealand mother Deborah has lived the jet set life since birth calling Hong Kong, Washington DC, the Hollywood Hills, Paris, and New York her home. Deborah studied Fine Art at Carnegie Mellon University & Parsons In Paris. She is the photographer of two books on knitting by Suss published by Stewart, Tabori & Chang as well as the NY Times best seller The Beauty Book by Rona Berg published by. Her photographs have appeared on many book covers, magazines covers, advertisements, catalogues and television. Her clients have flown her all over the world.
Glamour magazine flew her for the day to photograph a portrait of a teen in London, a convicted mass murderer in a prison outside of Baton Rouge Louisianna, reportage in Alaska, lifestyle imagery in Miami, Palm Beach, Palm Springs, Malibu, Saint Barts, Parrot Cay in the British West Indies. She spent a month shooting lifestyle images in Kerela, Jaipur & Mumbai India. And another few weeks shooting lifestyle in and around the countryside of Saigon & Hanoi Vietnam for Getty Images. Conde Nast’s Lucky magazine sent her to shoot fashion in Stockholm Sweden & Hawaii. In Style commissioned her to shoot portraits of Jennifer Garner, Nicole Ritchie, Deborah Messing, Rachel Zoe. Chris Rock, Elizabeth Dole, Newt Gingrich, Jerry Falwell, and Jon Stewart were a few faces she captured for John Kennedy Jr.’s George magazine.
